On 28 May 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) opened a public consultation on the Draft Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Quality and Safety of Key Industrial Products Sold Online. The consultation remains open until 28 June 2025. The draft aims to enhance regulatory oversight of key industrial products sold via e-commerce platforms, including products subject to production licensing, compulsory product certification, or mandatory national standards concerning human health, safety, and property protection. It sets out responsibilities for e-commerce platform operators, platform-based sellers, and other e-commerce operators, including those offering social networking or live streaming functions. Obligations include product information disclosure, certification verification, quality inspection, risk monitoring, and cooperation with supervisory authorities. Stakeholders may submit feedback via the SAMR website, email, or post.
