Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015 (SB 754) including cybersecurity regulation enters into force through signing of Consolidated Appropriations Act 2016

On 18 December 2015, the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015 (SB 754) enters into force. The Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015 entered into force as Division N of the HR 2029 – Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2016. The Bill authorises private entities to monitor and voluntarily share information on cybersecurity threats and defensive measures with the federal government. It requires the Department of Homeland Security to establish a real-time intake and dissemination mechanism, mandate privacy safeguards for shared information, and limit government use to specified cybersecurity and criminal purposes. The Bill also provides liability protection for private entities acting in accordance with the Act and call for enhanced federal cybersecurity and workforce assessments.
