European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority opened consultation on generative Artificial Intelligence use by European insurers

On 15 May 2025, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) opened a consultation to assess the use of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption across the European Union's insurance sector, until 15 July 2025. The consultation applies to insurance undertakings of all sizes and seeks to understand both current adoption and future plans, as well as the governance and risk management measures in place. EIOPA intends to use the aggregated findings to inform supervision practices, promote responsible use of the technology, and uphold consumer protection standards.
