European Union: European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority closes consultation on generative Artificial Intelligence use by European insurers

On 15 July 2025, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) closes the consultation on assessing the use of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption across the European Union's insurance sector. The consultation applies to insurance undertakings of all sizes and seeks to understand both current adoption and future plans, as well as the governance and risk management measures in place. EIOPA intends to use the aggregated findings to inform supervision practices, promote responsible use of the technology, and uphold consumer protection standards.
