On 9 May 2025, the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Digital (Komdigi) continued its review of Worldcoin and WorldID services, with a focus on the collection and storage of biometric data. Komdigi stated that Tools for Humanity (TFH), the operator of Worldcoin, had collected over 500’000 retinal scans from users in Indonesia. The Ministry is examining whether the data storage practices present risks of leakage or misuse, and may request the deletion of the data if such risks are identified. The review follows the suspension of Worldcoin's Electronic System Provider Registration Certificate (TDPSE) on 4 May 2025, which resulted in a pause in local operations. Komdigi noted that any further regulatory steps will be based on the findings of its ongoing technical and privacy compliance assessment.
