United Kingdom: Office of Communications announced investigation into Itai Tech over alleged failure to implement highly effective age assurance

Description

Office of Communications announced investigation into Itai Tech over alleged failure to implement highly effective age assurance

On 9 May 2025, the Office of Communications (Ofcom) opened an investigation into Itai Tech over a potential breach of the Online Safety Act. The company, which operates the website Undress, is suspected of failing to implement effective age assurance measures to prevent children from accessing pornographic content, as required by the Act. Ofcom previously contacted online services that host their own pornographic material to inform them that the relevant obligations were now in force and to request details of their compliance plans, including timelines and contact points. While many services responded with confirmation of age assurance systems or plans to introduce them, Itai Tech Ltd allegedly failed to respond and has not put adequate safeguards in place.
