Minister of Culture and the Minister Delegate for Digital Affairs adopted order designating adult websites established in the EU as subject to age verification rules under the Law on Securing and Regulating the Digital Space

On 26 February 2025, the Minister of Culture and the Minister Delegate for Digital Affairs formally adopted an order designating EU-based pornographic websites as subject to France’s age verification requirements. This order was made under the authority granted by Articles 10, 10-1, and 10-2 of Law No. 2004-575 of 21 June 2004 on confidence in the digital economy, as amended by the SREN Law of 24 July 2023. It follows the required prior notification procedure under Article 3(4)(b) of Directive 2000/31/EC, enabling the extension of national access restrictions to services established in other EU Member States.
