Description

Secure Space Act of 2025 was introduced to House of Representatives

On 27 March 2025, the Secure Space Act of 2025 (HR 2458) was introduced to the United States House of Representatives. The Act proposes to amend the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019 which would prohibit the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from granting licenses, United States market access, or authorisations for geostationary and non-geostationary orbit satellite systems, as well as individually licensed and blanket-licensed earth stations, if the licensee is an entity that produces or provides covered communications equipment or services, or is an affiliate of such an entity. The Act addresses national security concerns related to infrastructure providers in network hardware and communications equipment. The FCC would be directed to issue implementing rules within one year of the Act’s enactment.
