European Commission released Digital Markets Act implementation report

On 25 April 2025, the European Commission released its second annual report on the implementation of the Digital Markets Act (DMA), detailing activities undertaken in 2024. The report highlighted the designation of Booking as a gatekeeper for its website service and the addition of Apple's iPadOS to its list of core platform services, bringing the total number of designated gatekeepers to seven and core platform services to 24. Actions included the completion of market investigations, the initiation of six non-compliance investigations against Alphabet, Apple, and Meta, and the launch of proceedings to specify Apple's interoperability obligations. The Commission also introduced a whistleblower tool, engaged in regulatory dialogue with gatekeepers, and hosted compliance workshops. The report outlined enforcement priorities such as ensuring user control over data, opening mobile ecosystems, and addressing fairness in online search and marketplaces. The High-Level Group for the DMA established subgroups focused on data, interoperability, and artificial intelligence, fostering cooperation among European regulators.
