Description

National Commission on Informatics and Liberty closes consultation on draft recommendation on collecting multi-device consent

On 5 June 2025, the National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (CNIL) closes its public consultation on a draft recommendation regarding the collection of multi-device consent, also known as cross-device consent. The CNIL will review the contributions received and proceed with the adoption of the final version of the recommendation. This consultation, which began on 24 April 2025, aimed to guide stakeholders in implementing solutions to ensure user consent remained valid across multiple devices linked to a single user account, in line with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements. The recommendation builds upon earlier CNIL guidance and focuses on authenticated environments where users are logged into an account, allowing their preferences on one device to automatically apply across all connected devices.
