A consultation on the public procurement measures in digital infrastructure contained in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (former American Jobs Plan and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act) is closed by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) on 4 February 2022. The NTIA is responsible for distributing $48 billion to improve high-speed broadband connection in all of America. The objectives are to build high-speed broadband infrastructure and promote price transparency and competition among internet providers. Currently, 35% of all Americans lack access to broadband "at minimally acceptable speeds". The consultation was opened on 5 January 2022.
