Vietnam: Ministry of Public Security released draft Decision of the Prime Minister promulgating the list of important data and core data

On 23 January 2025, the Ministry of Public Security released the Draft Decision of the Prime Minister promulgating the list of important data and core data for public consultation, requesting domestic and foreign agencies, organisations, and individuals to contribute their opinions. The draft decision categorises data into 24 groups of core data and 18 groups of important data, covering sensitive information related to national security, public administration, and economic activities. This initiative aims to establish a legal framework for data governance, classification, and protection, aligning with Vietnam's digital transformation goals and national security priorities. The Ministry of Public Security will lead the implementation of the decision, in coordination with relevant ministries and local authorities, once it is finalised and signed.
