Italy: Communications Regulatory Authority adopted an order requiring blocking of Casacinema on grounds of copyright infringement (Order No. 53/25/DDA)

On 3 April 2025, the Italian Communications Regulatory Authority issued a blocking order against Casacinema under the Regulation on the protection of copyright on electronic communication networks. It was highlighted that the platform enabled unauthorised access to audiovisual content and identified the domain as a mirror of a previously blocked site. The Authority ordered internet service providers to disable access to the domain and its aliases, redirect users to an official landing page, and update its blocklist in accordance with Article 8 of the Regulation on the protection of copyright on electronic communication networks. The order requires internet service providers to disable access to the site within two days of notification and highlighted that non-compliance may lead to sanctions and further legal enforcement.
