Description

Arizona Protecting Children on Social Media Act (HB 2858) including content moderation regulation failed to advance

On 4 May 2024, Arizona’s legislative session concluded without the passage of the Protecting Children on Social Media Act (HB 2858), which therefore expired. Introduced on 8 February 2024, the bill sought to impose content moderation requirements on businesses operating social media platforms, including mandates to develop filters to reduce cyberbullying and prohibit users aged 18 and over from sending direct messages to minors under 18.
