Description

Federal Communications Commission launched investigation into covered list entities regarding unauthorised operations

On 21 March 2025, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) launched an investigation into the US operations of Chinese telecommunications and technology companies previously included on the FCC’s Covered List under Section 2(a) of the Secure Networks Act. The investigation targets entities such as Huawei Technologies Company, ZTE Corporation, China Telecom (Americas) Corp., and others. The investigation aims to assess whether these entities continue to operate in the United States despite existing restrictions and the revocation of FCC authorisations. The FCC has issued Letters of Inquiry and at least one subpoena to the relevant companies and is collecting information about their ongoing activities, including potential facilitation by third-party actors
