Description

Securities and Exchange Commission order expanding list of designated cryptocurrencies to include USD Coin and Tether enters into force

On 16 March 2025, Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission order amending the criteria for the list of eligible cryptocurrencies to be used in digital token investments via Initial Coin Offerings (ICO) entered into force. The revised regulations add two cryptocurrencies, USD Coin (USDC) and Tether (USDT). It requires ICO portals to accept them from investors or issuers for transactions, and for digital asset exchanges to use as base trading pairs, in addition to existing cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Ethereum.
