On 12 March 2025, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) launched a consultation, set to close on 12 May 2025, regarding its approach to merger remedies. Remedies are actions taken to address competition concerns arising from mergers and can include structural changes, such as selling part of a business, or behavioural commitments, such as ensuring fair access to services. The consultation invites views on how the CMA determines suitable remedies, the role of remedies in maintaining pro-competitive benefits, and potential improvements to the efficiency of the process. As part of this, the CMA will engage with businesses, investors, and other stakeholders through webinars and roundtable discussions. The feedback gathered will inform the development of specific proposals, which will be published for further consultation in the autumn.
