President signed Law No. 175 of 2018 on Anti-Cyber and Information Technology Crimes including cybersecurity regulation

On 14 August 2018, the President endorsed the text for Law No. 175 of 2018 on Anti-Cyber and Information Technology Crimes. The law has been published in the Official Gazette and is set to come into force on 15 August 2018. The law requires service providers to preserve and store data related to information systems for 180 days, maintain confidentiality, and secure data against unauthorised access or damage (Article 2). It also criminalises unauthorised access, hacking, and other cybercrimes, with penalties ranging from imprisonment to fines (Articles 13-22).
