European Union: Berlin Regional Court issued ruling requesting X to grant Democracy Reporting International immediate and unrestricted access to all publicly available data on the platform

On 7 February 2025, the Berlin Regional Court II issued a ruling in a case between Democracy Reporting International (DRI) and Twitter International (X). The Court ruled that X must grant DRI immediate and unrestricted access to all publicly available data on platform X, including real-time data, via its online interface until 25 February 2025. This decision was made due to the urgency of the matter, as DRI is conducting research related to the upcoming German federal election on February 23, 2025, and requires access to analyse political discourse. The ruling also specified that X would bear the costs of the proceedings, and the case value was set at EUR 6'000.
