Ghana: National Communications Authority opened consultation on Electronic Communications (Submarine Carrier) Service Authorisation

On 1 November 2024, the National Communications Authority (NCA) opened a public consultation, lasting until 30 November 2024, to seek input on the proposed regulatory framework for Electronic Communications (Submarine Carrier) Service Authorisation. This framework aims to regulate consortium members of submarine cables landing in Ghana who sell capacity directly to users. The authorisation, valid for five years and renewable, includes conditions such as annual regulatory fees, cybersecurity compliance, and adherence to technical standards. All submissions will be published on the NCA's website, with intellectual property rights transferring to the NCA for regulatory purposes.
