Turkiye: Information Technologies and Communication Authority opened consultation on draft regulation on ensuring national cyber securıty and increasıng cyber deterrence

On 5 January 2025, the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) opened a public consultation, set to close on 21 January 2025, on the draft regulation titled Ensuring National Cybersecurity and Enhancing Cyber Deterrence. The draft outlines a framework for safeguarding critical infrastructure, mitigating cyber threats, and enhancing national cyber resilience. The draft regulation's provisions include the roles and responsibilities of the National Cyber Incident Response Center (USOM), Sectoral and Institutional Cyber Incident Response Teams (SOMEs), and public and private stakeholders in managing cybersecurity risks. The regulation mandates incident reporting within 12 hours for significant events, prescribes minimum security measures such as encryption and multi-factor authentication, and emphasises international cooperation on cyber intelligence.
