On 20 December 2024, Google submitted its proposed final judgement (PFJ) in response to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia's finding that certain of its search distribution and browser default agreements violated Section 2 of the Sherman Act. Google acknowledges that the agreements were exclusive and potentially foreclosed competition, but asserts that its conduct did not result in a monopoly, nor did it harm competition. The PFJ introduces several remedies aimed at promoting competition without stifling innovation, such as ensuring that Android partners are not required to license Google Search or Chrome to preinstall Google Play.
