Opened consultation on Ofcom technology notices to deal with terrorism content and CSEA content

On 16 December 2024, the Office of Communications (Ofcom) opened a consultation on its technology notice powers under the Online Safety Act 2023 until 10 March 2025. The Act grants Ofcom powers to issue technology notices requiring platforms to use specific technologies to detect terrorism and child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA) content, or to develop technologies to address CSEA content. The consultation seeks views on proposed minimum accuracy standards for technologies identifying terrorism and CSEA content and on draft guidance outlining how Ofcom will exercise its Technology Notice powers for regulated user-to-user and search platforms.
