Compare with different regulatory event:
On 29 April 2021, Bill Int 1760-2019, on tenant data privacy, has been adopted by the New York City Council and sent to the mayor for signing. If made into law, the bill would require the owner of buildings that utilize a smart access system (e.g. fob system, biometric identifier) to obtain the consent of tenants for the use of information collected through such access systems. Furthermore, the bill would limit the extent to which data can be collected through such services and require tenants to delete information within a certain period after a tenant has vacated a building. It would also make the sale of such data unlawful, creating a private right of action for alleged violations.
