Spain: Introduced Bill requiring transparency on use of AI in legal services

On 2 February 2024, the Bill requiring transparency on the use of AI in legal services was introduced to the Congress of Deputies. The Bill establishes regulations on the right of defence as a fundamental legal protection under Article 24 of the Spanish Constitution. It requires disclosure on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in digital platforms related to legal services and mandates public access to information on how AI systems make recommendations or decisions.
