Canada: Closed consultation on CRTC’s proposed self-service mechanisms as part of review and amendments to Wireless Code and Internet Code (2024-295)

On 9 January 2025, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) closes the public consultation on enhancing self-service mechanisms for wireless and internet services. The mechanism is part of the revision and amendments to the Wireless Code and the Internet Code. The consultation aims to gather information on mandating self-service mechanisms to simplify the modification, right-sizing, or cancellation of service plans. The consultation focuses on ensuring accessibility for persons with disabilities, limiting or prohibiting fees for using self-service mechanisms, and protecting customer privacy when technologies such as machine learning and generative artificial intelligence are used.
