Opened consultation on Competition Bureau updated merger enforcement guidelines

On 7 November 2024, the Competition Bureau opened a consultation on updating its merger enforcement guidelines until 12 January 2025. The proposed updates to the guidelines clarify the new “structural presumption” for high market concentration and market evaluation techniques such as the Hypothetical Monopolist Test (HMT). The issuance of the guidelines follows amendments to the Competition Act.
