Issued ruling in lawsuit against TikTok over alleged failure to delete online content classified as illegal

On 5 November 2024, the Tagansky District of Moscow issued a ruling against TikTok Pte. Ltd. (Case No. 12-1882/2024), imposing a fine of RUB 4 million (approx. USD 40'725). TikTok was found in violation of Part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offences pertaining to the failure of the owner of a website or the owner of an information resource in the information and telecommunications network "Internet" to delete information or an Internet page if the obligation to delete such information or Internet page is provided for by the legislation. The court determined that TikTok failed to remove prohibited content as required under legislation.
