The Cybercrimes Act is signed by the President of South Africa, after the approval by the Parliament and will come into force on a date fixed by the President by proclamation in the Official Gazette. The Act establishes new offences regarding cybercrime, in particular to criminalise the disclosure of certain types of data messages. Also, the Act regulates the powers to investigate cybercrime and imposes obligations to report data breaches and establish a Point of Contact.
