Description

Closed consultation on MCMC draft code of conduct for internet messaging and social media service providers

On 5 November 2024, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) closes the public consultation on the draft Code of Conduct (Best Practices) for Internet Messaging and Social Media Service Providers. The consultation follows the introduction of a licensing framework for internet messaging and social media services, announced on 1 August 2024 and set to be effective from 1 January 2025. The proposed draft code of conduct aims to create a safe online environment for Malaysians, particularly children and vulnerable groups at high risk of exposure to harmful content.
