Issued Tagansky District Court ruling including fine imposed on Discord over non-compliance with content removal orders (Case No. 05-3666/2024)

On 30 September 2024, the Tagansky District Court in Moscow issued a ruling against Discord Inc., finding the company guilty of failing to comply with Russian content moderation regulations. The court ruled that Discord Inc. had failed to adequately monitor or restrict access to content promoting non-traditional sexual relationships, paedophilia, and gender transitions on its platform, thereby violating Part 2, Article 13.50 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation. Consequently, Discord Inc. is obliged to pay an administrative fine, with the relevant details to be provided for payment to the Federal Treasury Department for the Central Federal District. Discord Inc. has the right to appeal this decision within 10 days.
