Vietnam: Opened consultation on draft Data Law (No. 2025/QH15) including data protection regulation

On 1 July 2024, the Ministry of Public Security opened a consultation on the draft Data Law (No. 2025/QH15) including data protection regulation until 1 September 2024. The draft Data Law aims to enhance the protection of personal and non-personal data, establishing comprehensive guidelines for data processing activities including collection, storage, modification, sharing, and deletion. Furthermore, the draft law outlines and defines data quality, which includes accuracy, validity, integrity, completeness, timely updates, and consistency. The consultation seeks to gather input from stakeholders on the proposed measures to ensure data security, compliance with international agreements, and protection of national interests.
