Japan: Closed public consultation on report of the Study Group on the Realization of a Safe and Secure Metaverse

On 8 October 2024, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan closes its public consultation on the Draft Report 2024, compiled by the Study Group on the Realization of a Safe and Secure Metaverse. The Report contains an overview of international trends regarding the development of the metaverse and proposes a set of principles, including openness, interoperability, diversity, and transparency. The consultation focuses on gathering insights on the proposed quality of service requirements for user-generated content platforms, contributing to the development of a safer and more secure metaverse. The ministry will compile a report based on the feedback received during the consultation period.
