Japan: Opened public consultation on report of the Study Group on the Realization of a Safe and Secure Metaverse

On 19 September 2024, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan opened a public consultation on the Draft Report 2024, developed by the Study Group on the Realization of a Safe and Secure Metaverse. The Report contains an overview of international trends regarding the development of the metaverse and proposes a set of principles, including openness, interoperability, diversity, and transparency. This consultation seeks input on quality of service requirements for platforms hosting user-generated content, aiming to ensure a safer and more secure metaverse environment. Stakeholders are invited to submit their comments through the e-Gov platform until the closing date.
