United States of America: Rejected Data Digesters Registration Bill (AB 3204)

On 31 August 2024, Data Digesters Registration Bill (AB 3204) was rejected by the General Assembly in the California Legislature as it failed to pass before the conclusion of the 2023-2024 legislative session. The Bill included a registration requirement for data digesters, defined as covered entities which design or modify AI systems through training with personal information of large numbers of individuals.
