Japan: Opened consultation on Partial Amendment of the Telecommunications Business Act Enforcement Regulations regarding connection fee calculation

On 24 August 2024, the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications opened a period for public feedback on the proposed Partial Amendment of the Telecommunications Business Act Enforcement Regulations. The Amendment would alter the fee calculation method for metal IP phones, wireless fixed phones, and Hikari (optical) phones. The implementation date is planned to be 1 January 2025. The Ministry had previously consulted on the issue in September 2023.
