Japan: Opened Consultation on Partial Amendment of Enforcement Rules of the Telecommunications Business Act regarding fee calculation and IP networks

On 20 September 2023, the Japan Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications opened a consultation, until 19 October 2023, regarding a proposed Partial Amendment of Enforcement Rules of the Telecommunications Business Act. In particular, the Rules review the applicable methods for calculating connection fees and charges in the telecommunications business, as well as a review of statutory functions of telecommunications providers in the context of the transition from Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to IP networks.
