On 30 July 2024, the European AI Office opened a consultation, as well as a call for expressions of interests, on trustworthy general-purpose AI models as part of the process of formulating a General-Purpose AI Code of Practice. The consultation closes on 18 September 2024. The drawing up of such a Code of Practice is envisioned by Article 56 of the EU AI Act. The Code of Practice is intended to detail the AI Act's rules for providers of general-purpose AI models. As such, the consultation covers transparency and copyright-related obligations of providers of general-purpose AI models. Further, the consultation seeks input on systemic risk taxonomy, risk assessment, and mitigation measures, with the aim of setting out a developed taxonomy in the Code of Practice.
