Description

Issued ruling in UOKiK Investigation into Zalando's Consumer Information Compliance

On 24 July 2024, the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) in Poland issued a ruling against the e-commerce platform Zalando. The decision requires Zalando to amend its website to ensure customers are fully informed about their rights, particularly regarding who they are purchasing goods from and the terms of purchase. This action follows an investigation initiated in September 2023, addressing Zalando's failure to communicate the status of sellers on its platform, thereby obscuring whether purchases were made from Zalando or its partner sellers. The ruling aligns with the Omnibus Directive requirements, emphasizing the need for clear, accessible, and comprehensive information for consumers to make informed decisions online. Additionally, Zalando is ordered to distribute PLN 40 vouchers to consumers who made purchases from its partners between 1 January 2023 and the fulfilment date, redeemable on Zalando's platform excluding partner products.
