United States of America: Adopted Federal Communications Commission Open Internet Order 2015

On 26 February 2015, the Federal Communications Commission adopted the Open Internet Order. The order prohibits mobile broadband providers from blocking access to legal content, throttling lawful Internet traffic based on content, and prioritization of certain types of traffic in exchange for payment. Moreover, the order bans Internet Service Providers from prioritizing the content and services of their affiliates. The provisions outlined will be implemented on 12 June 2015.
