On 1 July 2024, the New Zealand Digital Identity Services Bill was implemented. The Bill provides for the establishment of a Trust Framework (TF) for digital identity service providers, including two new administering bodies, the TF Board and the TF Authority. The TF Board would be responsible for drafting and recommending new rules to the responsible minister, educating TF providers and the public, and monitoring the framework's effectiveness. The TF Authority would be responsible for administering the accreditation regime for digital identity service providers.
