Republic of Korea: Adopted Amended Act on the Protection and Use of Location Information (Law No. 18517) including business registration requirement

On 19 October 2021, the Amended Act on the Protection and Use of Location Information, including business registration requirements, was adopted. Under the Amended Act, location information businesses handling personal information are required to register with the Korea Communications Commission if they meet certain requirements, such as being a corporation and having certain physical business facilities. The Amended Act enters into effect on 20 April 2022.
