On 12 June 2018, the National Assembly adopted the Law on Cybersecurity (No. 24/2018/QH14), which includes data localisation requirements. Article 26 requires domestic and foreign service providers operating on telecom networks, the Internet, and other value-added services in cyberspace in Vietnam to store personal data collected, used, analysed, and processed within the country. Additionally, foreign enterprises must establish a branch or representative office in Vietnam. The law will enter into force on 1 January 2019.
