Passed California AI Transparency Act (SB 942)
On 21 May 2024, the Californian Senate passed the California AI Transparency Act (SB 942). The bill would apply to businesses that provide a generative artificial intelligence (AI) system with an average of over 1 million monthly visitors and a publicly accessible website within the state of California. The Bill would require a provider of generative AI systems to develop an AI detection tool in order to mark images, video, audio, or multimedia content as being created by generative AI. The Bill would further require the provider to disclose content generated by generative AI.
