Adopted California AI Transparency Act (SB 942)

On 29 August 2024, the Californian Legislature adopted the California AI Transparency Act (SB 942). The bill applies to businesses that provide a generative artificial intelligence (AI) system with an average of over 1 million monthly visitors and a publicly accessible website within the state of California. The Bill requires a provider of generative AI systems to develop an AI detection tool in order to mark images, video, audio, or multimedia content as being created by its generative AI. The Bill further requires the provider to disclose content generated by generative AI.
