On 26 April 2023, the Digital Services Act (DSA) designating the Federal Network Agency as a digital services coordinator was adopted. The Act aims to implement the measures required in the European Union Regulation on a single market for digital services (European Digital Services Act/ EU DSA) at the national level. The Federal Network Agency will assume the role of the digital services coordinator, monitor compliance with the EU DSA, and impose fines for systematic violations. The DSC will oversee online service providers, ensuring they address illegal content and maintain transparency. In addition, the DSC will handle complaints, support the European Commission in monitoring large platforms, and certify trusted flagger organisations.
