Description

Implemented Digital Services Act (DSA) designating Federal Network Agency as digital services coordinator

On 14 May 2024, the Digital Services Act (DSA) designating the Federal Network Agency as digital services coordinator entered into force. The Act implements the measures required in the European Union Regulation on a single market for digital services (European Digital Services Act/ EU DSA). The Federal Network Agency assumes the role of the digital services coordinator and will monitor compliance with the EU DSA and impose fines for systematic violations. The DSC will oversee online service providers, ensuring they address illegal content and maintain transparency. In addition, the DSC will handle complaints, support the European Commission in monitoring large platforms, and certify trusted flagger organisations.
