Signed Revising Existing Procedures on Reporting via Technology Act (REPORT Act/SB 474)

On 7 May 2024, the Revising Existing Procedures on Reporting via Technology Act (REPORT Act/SB 474) was signed into law by the United States President. The Act includes mandatory reporting obligations for online platforms to the National CyberTipline regarding online sexual exploitation of children and increases the penalties for failing to report such content. In case of non-compliance with the Act, the platforms face penalties ranging from USD 150’000 to USD 1 million, based on the offence and the size of the company. The Act enters into force 180 days after its enactment.
