Description

Opened consultation on Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Framework: Generative Artificial Intelligence Profile (NIST AI 600-1)

On 29 April 2024, the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) opened a public consultation on the Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Framework: Generative Artificial Intelligence Profile (NIST AI 600-1) until 2 June 2024. This document serves as a resource for organisations, guiding them to identify specific risks posed by Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) and offering over 400 actionable steps to manage these risks effectively. This document serves as a companion resource to the AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF), in accordance with President Biden’s Executive Order (EO) 14110 on Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence. It identifies risks associated with the unauthorised access to sensitive information and the potential for GAI to facilitate harmful activities such as hacking and the production of toxic content among others. The categorisation of actions into four distinct categories, namely govern, map, measure, and manage, enables organisations to develop robust GAI risk management strategies.
