United Kingdom: Opened Consultation on ICO Inquiry on Accuracy Principle in Generative AI Development

On 12 April 2024, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) of the United Kingdom launched the third consultation in its series on generative AI, focusing on the accuracy principle of data protection law as it applies to generative AI development. The inquiry seeks insights on how the accuracy of training data influences the outputs of generative AI models, and how the accuracy principle of data protection affects the accuracy of outputs. The ICO's position, on which it seeks feedback, is that developers should have an overview of the accuracy of training data and its effects on the output, and consider the relation between a model's statistical accuracy and its purpose.
